Making memories
on the farm

Before you reach the long table, the estate unfolds in layers animals in the garden, a copper still breathing smoke, a stone mitato where hands still shape cheese, and a feast that tastes of the soil it came from.

The Estate

Fifty acres of
authentic Cretan land

Wander our estate and experience the everyday rhythm of the Cretan countryside. Visit our orchard, see the seasonal vegetables, meet our donkey, our horse and the rest of the farm animals, and enjoy the unique view of the Libyan Sea — with Gavdos marking the southernmost inhabited edge of Europe. And the Selliades mountains beyond, where bearded vultures still soar.

The raki is gone
before the next distillation

Each autumn, the grapes are pressed and left to ferment in tanks. A portion of the fresh must is stored in wooden barrels to become our wine, while the rest — along with the grape skins — becomes the soul of tsikoudia, slow-distilled over fire in a copper kazani.

Cheese, made
the old way

In Rakidio's mitato, you'll meet a tradition that remains alive today. We hand-milk our goat each morning and transform the fresh milk into tyrozouli — a traditional Cretan cheese with a soft texture and a distinctive flavor.

We use no machines and we never rush. We follow the same family recipe and the traditional techniques passed down by previous generations, giving the cheese the time and care it deserves.

Your Rakidio Experience

Your experience
at Rakidio

Everything you'll taste comes straight from our orchard — flaky tyropitakia made with our own cheese, tyrozouli served fresh from the mold, apaki cured in our smokehouse, olive oil pressed from our own trees, honey from our hives, and plenty of raki from our own distillation.

Our Story

A family farm that opened
its doors to the world

Rakidio was born from our family's everyday life. It started as a small family farm, with the raki kazani, the mitato, the gardens, and a table that always had room for one more person.

Over the years, we decided to share this way of life with people seeking the genuine side of Crete. We didn't create an experience for visitors; we simply opened our home and estate, just as we would for a friend.

The raki you'll taste is the same one we drink. The cheese is what we make for our own family. And the hospitality you'll experience is what we would offer to someone dear to us.

"We don't perform tradition. We just continue to live it, as we always have."Nearchos Deligiannakis, Founder
